If you ever get the chance to visit Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, you shouldn’t miss out on Institute for (X). It is an independent and not-for-profit culture association and an area right in the center of Aarhus arising from citizen initiatives.
The best possible neighbourhood for all
Institute for X is also eldr’s home base and it is a completely different kind of setting than your regular business environment. The area is filled with craftsmen running their workshops, skateboarders working on new obstacles and people hanging out. The outdoor spaces and park areas are public, and everyone is invited to use and co-produce them.
“We simply want to create the best possible neighbourhood for all. In this respect we try to facilitate and enhance cultural activities, combining artistic creativity with business, public debate and public education. It is all about making initiatives grow organically”, says Mads Peter who is the chief responsible for running the organisation behind Institute for X.
Today around 65 start-ups, 25 non-profit organisations and 70 individual artists are members of Institute for (X) and share ideas on sustainable and open social development. In eldr we take pride in being part of a community of free and independent thinkers promoting new ideas and initiatives for sustainable social development, ideas that are consistent with our beliefs in eldr.
In eldr our door is always open, and you are welcome to drop by for a look at our products and a tour of Institute for X.
